Lo esencial

Expect fresh wind slabs in the alpine. Conditions are expected to improve slowly on Saturday as winds ease and temperatures stay cool, but use caution in steep confined gullies, lee slopes, or ice climbs.

More wind and warming on Sunday will increase the hazard again. Monitor local weather conditions at Avalanche Canada's website.

There is enough snow in wind-loaded alpine and high treeline features to create avalanches, and human triggering is possible. While we expect these slides to be limited in size, getting avalanched in a shallow snowpack can easily result in an injury, so use caution in steep terrain.

Weather Summary

Saturday will bring a mix of sun and cloud with light W/SW winds in the alpine as a high-pressure system moves in. No new snow is expected. Treeline temperatures will range from -3 to -9°C.
