Forecast Snow Stability: Localised accumulations of fresh unstable windslab will develop mostly on North-East through East to South aspects above 750 metres. Steep wind sheltered locations such as gullies, coire rims and ridge flanks will be most affected. Fragile cornices will start to develop above these aspects. The older snowpack will be well bonded firm and stable. The avalanche hazard will be Moderate.

Snowpack Structure

Forecast Weather Influences: Heavy showers overnight will become lighter during the day and fall as snow above around 500 metres. Gale force Westerly winds overnight will veer West-North-Westerly and gradually decrease to moderate throughout the day. The freezing level will rise from around 600 metres to 750 metres. Observed Weather Influences: A day of snow showers and storm force Westerly winds. The freezing level was around 500 metres. ObservedSnowStability: The existing snowpack is well bonded firm and stable. Isolated areas of windslab are developing on steep North-East to South-East aspects above 750 metres. These areas are not extensive and easily avoidable. The avalanche hazard is Low.
