Forecast Weather Influences: Overnight showers will fall as snow at increasingly higher elevations as the freezing level briefly rises to around 1000 metres. South-Westerly winds becoming strong to gale force. Winds ease becoming fresh to strong through the day with snow showers continuing to fall above around 500 metres. Observed Weather Influences: A bright morning with showers, heavier and more prolonged in the afternoon, falling as snow above 650 metres. Light to moderate South-Westerly winds, stronger gusts in the showers. ObservedSnowStability: Fresh accumulations of unstable windslab is present in wind sheltered locations mainly on North to East aspects above 850 metres. Other aspects are affected through cross loading. These deposits are not yet extensive but where they gain depth are poorly bonded. Cornices have reformed on these aspects also. Areas exposed to the wind remain hard and icy with potential for serious runouts.
