Avalanche Activity

The cooling of the last days with heavier snowfall caused an increase of new snow (+20cm). The total height of the snow cover has reached 50 cm in some places.

For the highest altitudes of the High, Western and Low Tatras there is a SMALL avalanche danger - i.e. the first degree of the five-part international scale. Avalanche release is possible on isolated slopes of the highest altitudes (above 1800 m above sea level) with a large to extreme slope. Spontaneous avalanches are not expected.

Snowpack Structure

The cooling and the addition of new snow (+20 cm) has caused the snow cover to reach a height of 50 cm in some places, which may pose a potential avalanche threat in isolated places. The ground surface has not yet frozen sufficiently and the snow cover is not sufficiently bonded to the ground surface.

Tendency

Steady during Monday, declining on Tuesday.
