Avalanche Activity

Forecast Snow Stability: The snowpack will continue to consolidate and become firm well bonded and stable throughout. The greatest extent of snow will be above 800 metres in areas such as coire back walls, flanks, and burn lines. Large cornices will continue to overhang North-West to Northerly aspects. The avalanche hazard will be Low.

Snowpack Structure

Forecast Weather Influences: Light Westerly winds will increase to moderate through the afternoon and back to become Southerly in direction. Apart from a trace of new snow in the early evening, it is expected to be dry throughout with clear skies. The 600 metre freezing level will rise to 800 metres during the day. Observed Weather Influences: Mainly dry with occasional light snow showers on moderate Westerly winds. The freezing level steadily lowered to around 1000 metres by midday. ObservedSnowStability: There is a dusting of new snow on all aspects above 900 metres. The old snowpack continues to consolidate and has developed a firm crust above 950 metres, stability is generally improving. Large unstable cornices overhang North-West to Northerly aspects. The avalanche hazard is Low.
