Forecast Snow Stability: The vast majority of the snow will be well bonded and stable. Isolated pockets of softer, less well bonded windslab will be present in steeper, wind sheltered locations on North to East aspects above 1000 metres. Depth and distribution of these deposits will not be extensive. Snow cover will be very patchy below 900 metres with most cover being encountered on the highest mountains of the main Cairngorm Plateau. The avalanche hazard will be Low.

Snowpack Structure

Forecast Weather Influences: Dry throughout with sunny conditions forecast. Strong South-Easterly winds easing overnight as they veer to become moderate South-South-Westerly. Freezing level gradually rising from 650 metres to reach 1200 metres by the end of the afternoon. Observed Weather Influences: A dry and partially cloudy day with strong South-South-Easterly winds. Freezing level around 900 metres. ObservedSnowStability: The snow is generally well bonded and stable. Very isolated pockets of softer, less well bonded windslab are present in steeper, wind sheltered locations on North to East aspects above 1000 metres. Depth and distribution of these deposits are limited. Cover is now very patchy below 900 metres. The avalanche hazard is Low.
