Lo esencial

The possibility of triggering dangerous, hard to predict persistent slabs to three feet in depth continues in avalanche terrain. Before travel in high consequence terrain evaluate the snowpack carefully to identify areas of concern.

Persistent slabs to three feet in depth rest on weak, faceted snow and good sliding surfaces at the mid and upper elevations and possibly a foot deep in isolated, very steep areas at the lower elevations. These dangerous slabs could be triggered by people in steep, avalanche terrain. Slopes may be crossed multiple times before an avalanche is released.

Avalanche Discussion

Some snow showers are expected to occur over the western mountains overnight and Thursday. Accumulations are to be light. Mountain temperatures are rise into the upper teens and winds are to be light from the northwest. The general avalanche hazard will be Moderate above 7500 feet in the Teton and Togwotee Pass/Continental Divide Areas and Considerable at all elevations in the Southwest Trails/Greys River zone. In these areas, persistent slabs remain susceptible to human triggers in steep terrain. In the southern forecast area slabs are the most sensitive and can have depths to three feet. Avalanches are unlikely below 7500 in the Teton and Togwotee Pass areas.
