Avalanche Summary

The most likely spots to trigger an avalanche are wind-drifted features on leeward-facing slopes at upper elevations. Westerly winds and ample snow have created thick slabs that could entrain enough snow to bury you or take you for a dangerous ride. Common places to find this problem are below ridges or the sides of cross-loaded gullies.

New snow on Friday is not enough to raise the avalanche danger, but may make it more challenging to identify previously wind-drifted features. You can find safer travel on slopes less than about 35 degrees steep.
