Lo esencial

At high elevations, the potential continues for backcountry riders or skiers to trigger pockets of firm surface slabs to depths of eighteen inches. These slabs are likely to be found only in very steep wind loaded terrain that lies in or around cliffs or rocky areas. At the mid elevations the hazard is limited to isolated pockets to ten inches and avalanches are unlikely at low elevations today.

Avalanche Discussion

Periods of light snow and moderate west to northwest are expected through mid day Friday. Temperatures are to rise into the low twenties. The general avalanche hazard is expected to be Moderate above 9000 feet where skiers and riders will have the potential to trigger pockets of dense surface slabs to depths of eighteen inches in very steep, rocky, wind loaded terrain near ridge crests. Below 9000 feet the hazard will be Low where isolated pockets to a foot in depth could be triggered.
