Lo esencial

The general avalanche hazard is Moderate above 8500 feet. Backcountry skiers or riders could trigger surface sluffs or very soft slabs to a foot in depth in very steep terrain. The remote chance may also persists to trigger larger avalanches involving weaknesses that persist near the base of the snowpack. Avalanches are unlikely below 8500 feet today.

In steep avalanche starting zones, some potential may exist for large loads such as snow machines or groups of people to trigger hard slab avalanches to four feet in depth on weak layers that persist near the base of the snowpack.

Avalanche Discussion

( Discussion is generated from the previous day's afternoon forecast. )Friday looks to be mostly clear as high pressure passes over the area. Occasional mountain flurries are possible. Temperatures are to rise to near ten degrees and winds are to be westerly with ten to fifteen mile per hour averages. The general avalanche hazard is expected to be Low in the Tetons and Moderate in the Togwotee Pass and Southwest Trails areas where slides involving weak snow near the base of the snowpack, although unlikely could be triggered in very steep terrain.
