Lo esencial

The General Avalanche Hazard is LOW. New snow and strong winds have added depth to pockets of wind slab on steep, wind-loaded slopes near ridgelines. With a shallow snowpack even small slabs have the potential to push backcountry travelers into dangerous terrain. Avalanches are unlikely below 8,500 feet.

Avalanche Discussion

( Discussion is generated from the previous day's afternoon forecast. )Light snow will continue overnight with lows in the mid teens. Partly cloudy skies and light snow are forecasted for Wednesday with high temperatures in the upper teens. Mountain top winds will be westerly at 10 to 20 mph.The General Avalanche Hazard in the Tetons is expected to be MODERATE at the upper elevations on Wednesday. Pockets of soft slab may be triggered on steep, lee slopes near ridge tops. The hazard will be dependant on whether the snow is able to stick to old surfaces and build into slabs. The Hazard will be LOW in the Greys River and Togwotee Pass regions.
