Lo esencial

The snowpack is trending toward stability and slightly cooler temps will help stabilize the Loose Wet problem.   But we are not out of the woods as it is still relatively warm out.   Steep slopes in direct sunlight are the most likely to still produce Loose Wet surface slides.

    Wet loose problems will continue to exist on steep, sunny slopes out of the wind.  If you see roller balls or pin wheels find a lower angle, shaded slope.   Wind and Temps will be the biggest driver for stability tomorrow.   A cooler, breezier day will help.  But if you find yourself in an area with warmer temps and calm wind... you are more likely to find the Loose Wet problem.   The consequences of getting caught in a surface slide, even when reletively small, can be dangerous in challenging terrain. 

Avalanche Discussion

Overnight temps closer to freezing tonight should help settle down the loose wet problem....  which was widespread on Saturday.  On Sunday, steep, sunny slopes in the heat of the day will most likely still continue to hold wet problems.  Surface slides will have the most punch on slopes where deeper pockets of surface snow are piled up.   With loose wet problems, I try and avoid slopes where I'm sinking up to my boot tops.  The wind is forecast to be calm early... but increase from the West througout the day.  Slopes that face into the breeze will be a touch cooler and have less loose wet problems.
