Weakly bonded old snow requires caution. Wet avalanches during the day.

As a consequence of warming during the day and the solar radiation, the likelihood of moist avalanches being released will increase also on steep sunny slopes. Small to medium-sized wet avalanches are to be expected.

Snowpack Except in the extreme west of Lower Valais and in northern Lower Valais, the snowpack contains faceted and loosely bonded layers over a wide area. On the northern flank of the Alps, these layers are often to be found near the surface of the snowpack; in southern Valais and in Grisons, the entire snowpack is faceted and loosely bonded in some cases. In particular in northern Grisons, surface hoar that has been covered with snow also exists in some locations. Although the number of avalanche prone locations has decreased in recent days, in the east in particular dry slab avalanches can still be released even by small additional loads in some places. As a consequence of warming and solar radiation, wet snow avalanches are to be expected on very steep south facing slopes as the day progresses. Wednesday night will be mostly clear, and Thursday will be mostly sunny despite high-altitude cloudbanks, but no longer quite as mild. The danger of dry avalanches will continue to decrease, but only slowly because of the weak layers in the old snowpack. On very steep sunny slopes, wet snow and gliding avalanches are to be expected.
