New snow and strong winds will increase the chances of triggering small, soft slab avalanches on a variety of aspects today. Crusts and graupel at the surface and weak crusts below will make triggering avalanches easier through the day. By evening slabs to a foot in depth could be triggered on lee slopes at upper elevations. With shallow snow cover be alert to the danger of being swept into rocks or trees. Avalanches are unlikely below 8,500 feet.

Light snow will continue overnight with lows in the mid teens. Partly cloudy skies and light snow are forecasted for Wednesday with high temperatures in the upper teens. Mountain top winds will be westerly at 10 to 20 mph.The General Avalanche Hazard in the Tetons is expected to be MODERATE at the upper elevations on Wednesday. Pockets of soft slab may be triggered on steep, lee slopes near ridge tops. The hazard will be dependant on whether the snow is able to stick to old surfaces and build into slabs. The Hazard will be LOW in the Greys River and Togwotee Pass regions.
