Lo esencial

The General Avalanche Hazard is MODERATE at Mid and Upper elevations. Snow from the storm cycle ending Monday created slabs to eighteen inches in depth on steep, lee slopes. Slides reported have been in steep gulleys and below cliff bands where drifting and sloughing developed deeper accumulations. The new snow sits on sun and melt-freeze crusts and slides may require a more significant trigger like the the second or later person on a slope or more than one person at a time on a slope. Note that the slide reported in Granite Canyon yesterday was found to have slid on weaknesses within the snowpack and the base of the snowpack was strong and well bonded. At Low elevations the Hazard is LOW where the snow cover is thin and cooler temperatures are preventing significant hazard.
