Lo esencial
At the mid and upper elevations areas of unstable snow persist on steep, avalanche-prone slopes where the snowpack has a base of weak, faceted snow. In these areas, backcountry skiers or riders could trigger these hard slab avalanches to depths of three feet. New snow could also be released in the form of loose sluffs or soft slabs to one foot depths. Once initiated, this surface snow may have the potential to trigger the older stiff slabs. Avalanches are unlikely at the lower elevations.
