Avalanche Summary

Dangerous avalanche conditions exist across the Grand Mesa through the Battlement Mesa. You can easily trigger wet avalanches on sunny slopes or on low-elevation shady slopes and some could grow large enough to bury you. You can also trigger a large and dangerous avalanche on high-elevation, north-facing slopes that breaks on weak snow near the ground. Avoid steep slopes that face northwest through north to northeast near treeline, or if you notice your feet, skis, or machine sinking deep into wet snow. The easiest way to avoid being caught in an avalanche is to stick to low-angle, simple terrain for another couple of days until things cool down this weekend.
