Avalanche Summary

The threat of triggering a large and destructive avalanche remains on steep, high-elevation, north-facing slopes. With more snow on the way, keep an eye out for wind-drifted features that could fail and trigger a more massive slide on weak layers below.

With a better overnight freeze, the threat of wet avalanches is decreasing. However, if you find yourself punching through a hard crust into wet snow grains below, consider sticking to lower-angle slopes. It may take a couple of nights of cold temperatures to penetrate a deeper freeze into the lower layers of the snowpack.
