Lo esencial

Areas of unstable snow persist on upper elevation, northerly aspects where the base of the snowpack is comprised of weak faceted snow on a hard crust. The general avalanche hazard above an elevation of 8,500 feet is MODERATE. Humans who venture into steep avalanche prone terrain could trigger slab avalanches up to 30 inches in depth. Avalanches are unlikely below an elevation of 8,500 feet where the general avalanche hazard is LOW.

Avalanche Discussion

( Discussion is generated from the previous day's afternoon forecast. )Moist, warmer air moving in aloft will bring periods of light snow to the mountains. Accumulations of a couple inches every 12 hours or so are expected. Lesser amounts are likely in the valleys. Temperatures will drop into the teens overnight and rise into the 20s during the day. Winds will be southwest at 10 to 20 miles per hour.At the higher elevations the general avalanche hazard is expected to be MODERATE. Skiers or riders who venture into steep north facing terrain could trigger slab avalanches up to 30 inches deep. Avalanches are unlikely below an elevation of 8,500 feet where the general avalanche hazard is expected to be LOW.
