Lo esencial
At the mid and upper elevations soft slabs 6 to 18 inches in depth and older harder slabs 2 to 4 feet in depth lie upon weak layers of faceted snow. These DANGEROUS slabs are easily triggered by humans who approach or venture onto them and have been triggered on previously crossed slopes. At these elevations the unstable snowpack conditions, which have resulted in three avalanche fatalities this month, persist. Severe trauma and/or deep burial is a distinct possiblity for humans who trigger these DANGEROUS slabs. At the lower elevations pockets of slab up to 3 feet in depth could be triggered on steep wind loaded avalanche prone terrain.
