Lo esencial

A moist and unsettled northwest flow has continued to favor the higher elevations of the west slope of the Teton Range where 18 inches of new snow has fallen during the past two days. Significantly lesser amounts of new snow have fallen on the east side of the Tetons and at the mid and lower elevations. This new snow lies upon slick old snow surfaces and is sensitive to human triggers in steep avalanche prone terrain. Human interaction with small avalanches and loose snow sluffs can result in serious consequences, especially during early season conditions.

At the upper elevations pockets of soft slab up to two feet in depth lie upon slick old snow surfaces. These slabs were formed by northwest winds and could be triggered by humans who venture into steep, wind loaded avalanche starting zones.

At the upper elevations loose snow sluffs could be triggered by skiers or snowboarders on very steep slopes where the snow has not been affected by the wind.
