Lo esencial

The general avalanche hazard is CONSIDERABLE today. Recent snow and winds have created dense slabs one to three feet in depth on mid and upper elevation wind loaded slopes. These slabs could be triggered by riders on steep wind loaded aspects and once triggered have the potential to pull out deeper layers possibly to the ground. It is important to recognize that these slabs may seem stable and may be ridden or crossed several times before an avalanche is triggered. At the lower elevations rain and persistant warm temperatures have weakened the snowpack. Wet slides are possible on steep snow covered terrain if significant warming occurs today.
