Strong winds have deposited snow into thick, cohesive slabs on higher, leeward terrain features. With a thin snow cover in many areas, the places holding the most snow are also the most dangerous. The most likely places to trigger an avalanche are below ridges, in concave bowl features, and along gully walls. By steering clear of steep, wind-drifted slopes, you will greatly reduce your chances of being caught in a slide.
