The avalanche prone locations are very rare. On very steep shady slopes only isolated dry avalanches are possible, but they will be mostly small. In steep terrain there is a danger of falling on the hard snow surface.

The old snowpack is faceted and weak. In high Alpine regions snow depths vary greatly, depending on the infuence of the wind. Also at intermediate and high altitudes hardly any snow is lying.
