Avalanche Activity

As a consequence of new snow and wind the avalanche prone locations will become more prevalent in the afternoon.

The new snow and wind slabs can be released by a single winter sport participant at high altitude, in the regions exposed to heavier precipitation caution is to be exercised on very steep slopes. As a consequence of new snow and wind avalanches are possible towards the evening, even large ones in isolated cases. Slight decrease in danger of wet avalanches as the snowfall level drops. The current avalanche situation calls for careful route selection.

Snowpack Structure

15 to 30 cm of snow, and even more in some localities, will fall until the evening. The rain gave rise on Tuesday to thorough wetting of the snowpack below the tree line. The spring-like weather conditions gave rise to increasing settling of the snowpack in particular at low and intermediate altitudes. In particular at high altitudes and in high Alpine regions there is still a very large amount of snow.
