The more recent wind slabs are mostly small. They can be released in some cases above approximately 2300 m, especially in gullies and bowls at high altitude. As a consequence of warming, the likelihood of dry and moist avalanches being released will increase a little on rocky sunny slopes. These can in isolated cases be triggered in the old snowpack and reach quite a large size.
The sometimes strong wind has transported some snow. The wind slabs have bonded with the old snowpack. In some places various wind slab layers are lying on a hard crust. Individual weak layers exist in the old snowpack. At higher altitudes snow depths vary greatly, depending on the infuence of the wind. In all regions below approximately 2000 m from a snow sport perspective, in most cases insufficient snow is lying.
The weather conditions will foster a gradual strengthening of the snow drift accumulations.
