Lo esencial

Stormy weather over the weekend will produce shallow Wind Slab avalanches on East and Northeast slopes at treeline and in the alpine.  With relatively little new snow to blow around these avalanches aren't likely to be very large.

It's been so long since I've gotten to forecast Wind Slabs!  For Sunday I am, but just barely.  Any Wind Slabs will be shallow, with relatively small accumulations of new snow.  The next system will drop more snow further South and also on the West slope, and more snow leads to larger potential Wind Slabs.  The depth of snow on wind loaded start zones can be 3-5 times that of sheltered areas.

Avalanche Discussion

Sunday will be a continuation of Saturday's more stormy weather pattern.  We aren't forecast to get more than a few inches of new snow, and this will only increase avalanche hazard somewhat.  Wind slab avalanches are possible but they won't be very large.
