Lo esencial

Snow that fell in October can be found on northerly aspects above an elevation of 9,000 feet. Due to an extended thermal inversion, temperatures in the mountains have been above freezing since November 1. The October snow is patchy, damp or wet and generally less than eight inches in depth. Avalanches are unlikely. Ground surfaces are mostly bare on all aspects below an elevation of 9,000 feet and on solar aspects up to an elevation of 10,500 feet.

Avalanche Discussion

( Discussion is generated from the previous day's afternoon forecast. )A low-pressure trough will move through the area over the weekend. Precipitation will develop on Saturday and become widespread. It will begin as rain and transition to snow on Saturday evening as colder air arrives. The freezing level is expected to descend to the valley floors by Sunday morning. The general avalanche hazard is low at the upper elevations (9,000 to 10,500 feet) were shallow areas of melt-freeze crust and damp, loose snow exist. The ground is mostly bare below 9,000 feet.
