NC for 29.1: Mild then cool, light snowfall. Isolated windslab developing, NE to SE aspects above 800m. Elsewhere stable. Low Haz.

Forecast Snow Stability: As it turns cooler shallow, isolated accumulations of unstable windslab will develop within wind sheltered locations on North-Easterly to South-Easterly aspects mainly above 800 metres. The old snowpack will remain stable and be most widespread on North-West through North to North-East aspects above 950 metres. The avalanche hazard will be Low.

Snowpack Structure

Forecast Weather Influences: A mild night with rain at all levels. The freezing level will fall to 600 metres during the day and rain will turn to very light snowfall above 500 metres. Severe gale to storm force West-South-Westerly winds will veer to become West-North-Westerly during the morning. Observed Weather Influences: A mainly dry day with gale to storm force Westerly winds. The freezing level was around 900 metres. ObservedSnowStability: Little change to the old snowpack which remains well bonded and stable at all altitudes. Accumulations are most widespread above 950 metres on North-West through North to North-East aspects, particularly around coire back walls, ridge flanks and the plateau. Elsewhere the ground is mostly bare with a few ribbons of snow remaining in stream beds, steep banks and hollows. The avalanche hazard is Low.
