    Keeping the forecast at Considerable for the next 24 hours as the storm has only just finished on the mountain. Wind transport and the snow that has fallen over the last 48 hours will have built areas of wind slab on North East aspects above 1200m. This means caution will be needed as we see this clearance in the weather and the remaining cold temperatures keeping the cool winter snowpack. Conditions can and will change quickly; plan your trip wisely, giving thought to route selection and the skill set required.

Recent Avalanche Activity

No human-triggered or naturally triggered avalanches have been reported or observed over the past 24 hours.

Current Snowpack Conditions

A total of 10 to 20cm of new snow fell in this last storm above 1200m. North-east aspects have developed wind slab with increased size and depth with altitude. Instabilities that have formed within these areas are still present. Remaining cold temperatures will carry this cold snowpack on into the weekend. Meaning a slower change in snow conditions than normally expected for the mountain. Surface conditions will also vary, with exposed Southerly aspects being firm underfoot above 1400m.

Mountain Weather

Clear and cold for Thursday and Friday with Southerly winds before turning to the North at some point on Friday.
