Forecast Snow Stability: New unstable windslab will be deposited in wind sheltered areas, mainly on South-West to North-West aspects above 900 metres. Accumulations gaining depth are not expected to be extensive but where they do, will be weak. Instabilities will persist in the recently deposited windslab present mainly on North to East aspects above 900 metres. The old snowpack will be refrozen and generally stable. The avalanche hazard will be Moderate.
Forecast Weather Influences: Moderate Easterly winds overnight will gradually ease to light and back, becoming Northerly during the day. The freezing level will rise from 400 metres overnight to be around 500 metres during the day. Overnight it will be dry, then light snowfall is expected through the day. Observed Weather Influences: It was a dry cold day, freezing at all levels. Winds were strong West-South-Westerly backing and easing during the day, light to moderate South-Westerly. ObservedSnowStability: Instabilities are present in the recently deposited windslab that is present mainly on North to East aspects above 900 metres. Small cornices have formed above these aspects. The old snowpack is refrozen and generally stable. The avalanche hazard is Moderate.
