Individual avalanche prone locations are to be found in particular in steep terrain at high altitude.
Individual avalanche prone locations for dry avalanches are to be found in particular adjacent to ridgelines and in pass areas and at transitions into gullies and bowls. Wind slabs are mostly small and can be released in isolated cases. This applies in particular along the border with France. The avalanche prone locations are sometimes covered with new snow and are difficult to recognise.
Little snow will fall. The small quantity of fresh snow and the mostly small wind slabs are lying on top of a quite favourable old snowpack. The old snowpack is largely stable and its surface has a melt-freeze crust that is strong in many cases. Adjacent to ridgelines and in pass areas as well as in high Alpine regions snow depths vary greatly, depending on the infuence of the wind.
