Avalanche Activity

Slab avalanches and moist avalanches are the main danger.

Individual avalanches are possible. Below approximately 1800 m small moist avalanches are possible. They can also release the wet snowpack. Above approximately 1800 m small and, in isolated cases, medium-sized avalanches are possible. This applies in particular in case of a large load. The avalanche prone locations are to be found especially in gullies and bowls, and behind abrupt changes in the terrain and on steep shady slopes. In steep terrain there is a danger of falling on the hard crust.

Snowpack Structure

The snowpack remains in most cases subject to considerable local variations. In gullies and bowls and on wind-protected shady slopes a lot of snow is lying. The snowpack will be in most cases favourable. The weather will be partly cloudy. As a consequence of low temperatures a crust will form on the surface. The conditions will foster a slight weakening of the near-surface layers as the day progresses.
