Forecast Snow Stability: The existing snow will be well bonded and firm. Pockets of fresh windslab will develop on North-East to East aspects above 850 metres. These are expected to be isolated and avoidable. Steep wind sheltered locations will be most affected, such as gully tops and corrie rims. Elsewhere, any new snow cover will be thin and fall mostly on bare ground. The avalanche hazard will be Low.

Snowpack Structure

Forecast Weather Influences: The freezing level will drop to around 400 metres by morning. There will be light precipitation throughout the forecast period. Initially this will fall as snow above 600m, later to glen level. Winds will be gale force West-South-Westerly. Observed Weather Influences: A mainly dry day, with occasional light showers in the afternoon. The freezing level was around 850 metres. Gale to storm force Westerly winds. ObservedSnowStability: The remaining snow is well bonded and firm. Greatest accumulations are in wind sheltered locations on North to East aspects above 850 metres. Elsewhere the terrain is mostly bare. The avalanche hazard is Low.
