Forecast Snow Stability: The snow will continue to thaw in the mild and wet conditions with significant depletion of cover expected at lower elevations. The snow will be generally well bonded and stable but any remaining small cornices will be prone to collapse. These will most frequently be encountered on West to North aspects above 900 metres. The avalanche hazard will be Low.
Forecast Weather Influences: A dry night followed by a period of rainfall which will cease just after day break. Strong West-South-Westerly winds throughout. Freezing level above the summits. Observed Weather Influences: Light snowfall on very strong South-Easterly winds, this turned to rain at lower elevations as the freezing level rose during the day. Freezing level around 900 metres at midday. ObservedSnowStability: The remaining snow is softening in the milder conditions at lower elevations but remains firmer above 900 metres. The well bonded and stable cover is patchy in most locations with some deeper accumulations present in wind sheltered locations on West to North aspects above 900 metres. The avalanche hazard is Low.
