Avalanche Activity

On Monday it will be warm.

The avalanche danger will already increase in the early morning. Backcountry tours should be started and concluded very early. As a consequence of warming during the day and solar radiation more moist and wet avalanches are possible as the day progresses. This applies in particular on very steep slopes below approximately 3300 m, as well as at the base of rock walls. Occasionally large natural avalanches are not ruled out. In some places the avalanches can penetrate even deep layers. In the typical avalanche paths here the avalanches can in some cases reach low altitudes.

Snowpack Structure

The surface of the snowpack will freeze to form a strong crust only at high altitudes. Sunshine and high temperatures will give rise as the day progresses to increasing moistening of the snowpack. The upper section of the snowpack is unfavourably layered. Small and medium-sized moist avalanches have been released in the last few days.

Tendency

Gradual decrease in avalanche danger as the temperature drops. Tuesday: New snow to 1500 m.
