Forecast Snow Stability: Fresh snow and varying wind direction will lead to the accumulation of isolated and generally shallow areas of windslab on many aspects mainly above 900 metres. A dusting of snow is expected to reach low levels during the day. The avalanche hazard will be Low.

Snowpack Structure

Forecast Weather Influences: Very strong South-West winds will veer to the North-East by dawn and then back to the North and ease in the afternoon. Showers, heaviest overnight, will fall as snow initially above 900 metres but to low levels during the day. The freezing level will drop through the period from 1000 metres to around 250 metres. Observed Weather Influences: Gale force South-Westerly winds and showers, mainly falling as rain but turning to snow on the higher summits in the afternoon. The freezing level was above the summits in the morning, dropping to 1200 metres by mid afternoon. ObservedSnowStability: The remaining snow patches are wet, well bonded and stable. Fresh snow accumulations in the afternoon are not significant. The avalanche hazard is Low.
