Avalanche Activity

Isolated danger zones for wet-snow avalanches

Avalanche danger is low. In isolated cases, small glide-snow or wet-snow avalanches can release in steep terrain which has not yet discharged or it can be triggered by persons.

Snowpack Structure

On sunny slopes, the ground is becoming bare. What little snow there is, is moist-to-wet (0-degree isotherm) and often forms a crust capable of bearing loads after a night of clear skies. Daytime warming and solar radiation soften the crust and make it forfeit its firmness.

Weather Forecast

On Thursday, dense clouds will persist, visibility in high-alpine zones is often limited. Intermittent rainfall and snowfall (snowfall level 1700-1900m), minor amounts of fresh snow. Occasional dry interims anticipated, esp. in the Lungau. Mostly moderate to brisk W/NW winds, in high alpine zones gusts reaching 60 km/hr. At 2000m: 0 to 2 degrees; at 3000m: -5 degrees.

Tendency

Little change expected
