LO for 3/1. Localised instabilities present, mainly at the tops of steep NW, N, NE and E aspects above 1000m. Moderate hazard.

Forecast Snow Stability: Localised windslab instabilities will turn to wet snow instabilities as it turns milder during the day. Areas most affected will mainly be at the tops of steep North-West, North, North-East and East aspects above 1000m. The avalanche hazard will be Moderate.

Snowpack Structure

Forecast Weather Influences: Strong South-East winds are expected overnight before easing on Tuesday. Precipitation is expected during Tuesday, snow initially but turning to rain at all levels later. The freezing level around 700m rising above the summits later in the day. Observed Weather Influences: It has been a mainly dry day with moderate to strong Westerly winds. The freezing level has been around 750m. ObservedSnowStability: Recent fresh snow is being redistributed in the moderate to strong winds. Accumulations of fresh windslab have formed in sheltered locations. Greatest accumulations are on steep North-East, East and South-East aspects above 1000m, notably at the tops of slopes and gullies. The avalanche hazard is Moderate.
