Avalanche Activity

New snow and wind slabs: At intermediate and high altitudes a considerable avalanche danger will prevail.

Above approximately 1100 m snow has fallen. Over a wide area over a wide area 20 to 30 cm of snow, and even more in some localities, has fallen above approximately 2000 m. The wind was moderate in the vicinity of peaks. The more recent wind slabs can be released by a single winter sport participant and generally at intermediate and high altitudes. They are to be found especially adjacent to ridgelines and in gullies and bowls.

Snowpack Structure

Wind and new snow above approximately 1100 m. The sometimes strong wind has transported the new snow significantly. In some places new snow and wind slabs are lying on a hard crust. Faceted weak layers exist in the old snowpack on steep shady slopes.
