The general avalanche hazard is MODERATE. Recent strong winds and snowfall have resulted in dense surface slabs to depths of three feet in steep avalanche terrain. These slabs could be triggered by riders or skiers today particularly in wind affected areas near cliffs, ridge lines and peaks. Terrain ideal for highmarking may be particularly susceptible today.

Temperatures are to rise into the teens and winds are to be westerly with averages of twenty to twenty five miles per hour. The avalanche hazard in the Teton area is expected to be CONSIDERABLE at the high elevations and MODERATE at the mid elevations . Slabs to three foot depths could be triggered in steep wind loaded avalanche terrain. These slabs could release in small pockets or involve wider slabs in exposed bowls or large wind loaded terrain features above 9000 feet.The avalanche hazard is expected to be MODERATE in the Togwotee Pass and Greys River areas. Less snow has fallen in these areas, however, strong winds have loaded steep avalanche terrain and human triggered avalanches are possible, particularly in high exposed bowls and steep slopes near cliffs, ridge lines, and mountain peaks. Slab depths to two feet are possible in the Togwotee Pass area, while depths to three feet are possible in the Southwest Trails/Grey’s River area.
