Avalanche Summary

Avalanche conditions are complex and will get more dangerous as the day and week progress. You can trigger a large and dangerous avalanche on many slopes facing the north half of the compass, especially near and above treeline. Warming temperatures will make it easier to trigger these dangerous dry slab avalanches than in the past week. Avoid traveling on steep, unsupported slopes facing these aspects of concern to reduce your chances of being caught in an avalanche that could be unsurvivable.

South-facing slopes offer safer travel in the morning, but they become dangerous in the afternoon as the snow surface becomes wet. If your feet, skis, or machine start sinking deep into wet snow or you see rollerballs or natural loose avalanches, it is too late in the day, and you should avoid traveling on slopes much steeper than about 35 degrees.
