Snow surfaces will be hard and frozen in the morning and are expected to soften up to an elevation of around 9,000 feet depending on the cloud cover. Avalanches are unlikely below an elevation of 10,500 feet, however some potential exist for convective snow showers to produce localized areas of intense snowfall. Very steep slopes should be avoided during sustained periods of intense snowfall.

A break in the moisture will bring clearer skies and colder temperatures to the region overnight. Another pulse of moisture will move to the region on Tuesday afternoon as the center of the low pressure system moves into the Great Basin. Skies are expected to be partly cloudy overnight as temperatures drop into the teens. Clouds will increase on Tuesday and snow showers could bring a couple of inches of new snow to the mountains. Temperatures will rise into the 20s and 30s. Winds will be southeasterly at 5 to 10 miles per hour.In the higher elevations of the Teton Range skiers could trigger small pockets of new soft slab less than a foot deep in steep, wind loaded avalanche starting zones. Convective showers could bring periods of intense snowfall to localized areas, especially during the afternoon hours. Although the general avalanche hazard is expected to be LOW, skiers could trigger small pockets shallow slab which could knock a person over on very steep slopes and in cliff areas.
