Lo esencial

Clear skies overnight have allowed snow surfaces to briefly freeze, however temperatures at 5 AM are generally in the low to mid 30s and therefor those snow surfaces are expected to quickly soften. The wet snow avalanche hazard will be LOW in the early morning hours and increase to MODERATE. Human triggered wet slides are possible on steep slopes during the warmer portion of the day. Backcountry travelers are advised to recreate early and be out of avalanche terrain before snow surfaces become soft and unstable.

    Shallow wet loose avalanches are possible on a variety of aspects in very steep terrain after snow surfaces soften.

    Warming temperatures and sunshine will increase the potential for wet slab avalanche activity. These slabs could be human triggered or release naturally and are most likely to occur in very steep rocky terrain.

Avalanche Discussion

Colder air is moving in from the west. Skies will become mostly cloudy with scattered snow showers. Temperatures will drop into the teens in the mountains and into the 20s in the valleys. Daytime highs on Wednesday will rise into the 20s in the mountains and into the 30s in the valleys.The cooler temperatures will mitigate the wet snow avalanche hazard. Avalanches are unlikely and therefor the general avalanche hazard is expected to be LOW.
