Lo esencial
Strong Southeast and South winds have formed surface slabs in leeward terrain. These slabs will increase in size and sensitivity today as they are loaded by continued snowfall and additional winds. Skiers and riders have the potential to trigger these soft slabs to thirty inch depths as well as loose snow sluffs in non-wind affected areas underlain by hard crusts. The potential also exists for human triggered hard slab avalanches to release on weak snow near the base of the snowpack. At low elevations, avalanche hazard is limited to isolated pockets of shallow soft slab in steep terrain.
