Lo esencial

The general avalanche hazard is CONSIDERABLE. New snow and wind has formed soft slabs to a foot in depth that upon firm melt-freeze and wind blown surfaces on steep leeward aspects. These slabs could be easily triggered to today by backcountry riders and skiers. The possibility also continues for the weight of one person to trigger large, deep hard slides that lie upon weak snow near the base of the snowpack. If triggered these hard slabs would result in severe consequences.

Avalanche Discussion

( Discussion is generated from the previous day's afternoon forecast. )A quick hitting storm system will bring light to occasional moderate snow overnight with many mountain locations receiving 3 to 6 inches of snow. Considerably colder air will follow this system with mountain highs on Friday in the low teens. Strong Southwest ridge crest winds this evening are to lessen and veer to the Northwest Friday morning. The General Avalanche Hazard will be CONSIDERABLE on Thursday. New snow and wind are expected to form surface slabs to a foot in depth on steep lee slopes at higher elevations. These slabs will form upon firm melt-freeze and wind blown surfaces and will be sensitive to human triggers. In some areas the potential continues for humans to trigger deep hard slabs that would carry severe consequences.
