Lo esencial

Strong winds yesterday moved the new snow from the prior three days and developed sensitive slabs to 18 inches in depth on a variety of aspects. Numerous slides were triggered by backcountry travelers including the Teton Pass area, Grand Teton National Park and a skier who was injured and helicopter evacuated after being carried the entire length of Mile Long couloir in Granite Canyon. Most of the slides ran on a sun crust from last week but slabs also formed on northern slopes. Forecasted warm temperatures today will further weaken the snow making natural and user triggered avalanches more likely.
