Avalanche Activity

Forecast Snow Stability: The existing snowpack will continue to thaw and consolidate. Stability will be good. Any fresh deposits are not expected to be significant. However, there are some cornices remaining above about 1100 metres on mainly North to East aspects. These will soften and become less stable during the day. The avalanche hazard will be Low.

Snowpack Structure

Forecast Weather Influences: The freezing level will drop to around 900 metres overnight before rising again to 1400 metres during the day. There will be some light showers, initially falling as snow but soon turning to rain at all levels. Winds will be from the South. Observed Weather Influences: It was a cloudy but generally dry day. The freezing rose from about 1000 metres overnight to about 1300 metres during the day. Winds were from the South-West. ObservedSnowStability: The spring snowpack continues to slowly thaw and consolidate. The greatest deposits remain on North-West through North to East aspects above 800 metres. Stability is generally good throughout. The avalanche hazard is Low.
