Forecast Snow Stability: Unstable windslab will persist in wind sheltered locations mainly on South-West to North-West aspects above 900 metres. Isolated unstable deposits will also be found on South-East, South and North aspects and at lower elevations where any steep sheltered features will be most affected. Stability of newly formed cornices will be poor. Exposed locations will be icy. The avalanche hazard will be Considerable.
Forecast Weather Influences: Remaining cold at all levels with light snowfall expected, mainly overnight. Winds will be fresh, some North-North-East but backing to the North then North-North-West early afternoon. Observed Weather Influences: A bright day with some broken cloud cover around the tops. A temperature of -5 degrees was recorded at 900 metres. There was a strong breeze from the East-North-East. ObservedSnowStability: Poorly bonded windslab was present in wind sheltered locations mainly on South-West to North-West aspects above 900 metres. Localised windslab is also found on both South and North aspects and at lower levels. Fragile cornices are forming. Wind exposed slopes are scoured and very icy. The avalanche hazard is Considerable.
