Forecast Snow Stability: Areas of fresh windslab will build on South-West to North-West aspects above 700 meters in the East of the region. These deposits are expected to be localised and easily avoidable. Areas affected will be gully tops, corrie rims and the leeward side of ridges. Mountains in the West of the region will be unaffected and the snowpack here will remain well bonded and stable. The avalanche hazard will be Low.
Forecast Weather Influences: Gale force Easterly winds. Light snow showers expected in the East of the region, predominantly dry across the coastal ranges. The freezing level will lower to around 600 meters during the day. Observed Weather Influences: Strong Easterly winds. Light showers across the East of the region, predominantly dry in the West. The freezing level was on or just above summit level. ObservedSnowStability: The snowpack is well bonded and stable throughout. Only patchy cover now remains, mainly above 700 meters increasing in extent with height. The avalanche hazard is Low.
